What do we want
We call for:
- the health and safety of communities to be put above the profits of Shell. This means no raw gas pipeline through our community and refining the gas at sea.
- the immediate renegotiation of all current exploration and commercial licences to ensure a fair deal for the Irish people and sustainable use of our natural resources.

The Kilcommon Development Plan was written by the local community and offers practical options for the sustainable development of Kilcommon. Despite being a model of Agenda 21 principles, it has being ignored by both local and national Government, who despite the rhetoric, just want profit and short term gains.
“The material and cultural wisdom of the people of this community is outlined in [our community development plan]. This vision is the product of the natural and sustainable growth of this community, grounded in the experience and knowledge in which it functions. The parish development plan illustrates how far from the community’s vision is the destruction perpetuated on us by this misguided project. In the context of this community Shell E&P Ireland and its government protectors will be here for a short time only. In that time they will have destroyed the potential of the area for sustainability, for the continued survival of the community into the future.”
